Young entrepreneur Daniel Wessels is the CEO and Founder of Jacaranda Finance. Although only in his early thirties, Wessels’ determination and adaptability has led him to successfully pioneer a range of other enterprises both here and abroad.
Previously, Wessels earned his stripes working for another well-known lender, where he launched their Personal Finance product in the UK. The market was completely different to back home and it opened his eyes to a range of new possibilities. The younger, tech-savvy Brits were turning away from traditional bricks and mortar financial institutions and instead choosing online-only lenders. Seeing this, Wessels knew he had to take the opportunity to inject some new life into the short-term lending industry back in Australia. So, in 2013, Wessels started Jacaranda Finance with the intent to innovate the customer experience and provide Australians with a solution to short-term cash flow shortfall.
Marrying the traditional concepts of short-term lending and technology with compliance and responsible lending principles, Wessels and his team built an agile underwriting platform to meet the needs of 21st-century borrowers. Rather than waiting weeks to receive an outcome on a loan application, borrowers applying for personal finance with Jacaranda could now receive their result in a matter of minutes. It was a huge success, and today the company processes upwards of 3,000 personal loan applications a day.
Wessels is constantly working to improve the proprietary technology that makes loan applications simpler and more convenient for consumers, focusing on financial inclusion and the customer experience has become the backbone of the company’s values. With Wessels at the helm, Jacaranda Finance has grown into a conscientious enterprise, committed to demonstrating responsible and sustainable behaviours across all areas of operations.
Daniel Wessels is committed to improving not only the lives of Jacaranda Finance employees and customers, but extending the family-first approach to the broader communities he works and lives within. Known for his support of local charities and causes, Daniel is an advocate for helping to ease friction by creating simple solutions to tedious tasks and bringing like-minded people together, for good.
