Jacaranda superstar raises over $2,500 for Daffodil Day

Jacaranda’s own Jemima Kelly has shaved her head in support of the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day Appeal, raising over $2,500 for life-saving cancer research.
Jemima smashed her lofty goal of $2,500, after promising to shave her head in honour of those who are impacted by cancer daily.
“Many people in my life have been impacted by cancer. Cancer sucks so anything that we can do as a community to contribute to life-saving research is a win,” Jemima said.
“I’ve wanted to shave my head since absolutely destroying it with a scalp bleach years ago. What better way than for a cause like this?
“I’m thankful that Jacaranda supported me so much. So many awesome people got around the clippers. It was truly a dangerous day to be my locks!”
Her amazing efforts placed her at 4th in all of Australia for individual fundraising, and the Jacaranda team gathered around to take part in the shaving ritual to celebrate.
Last year, Jacaranda raised over $5,000 in donations company-wide as a part of its annual support of Daffodil Day, and in 2022 raised a further $1,150 for ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’, also in support of the Cancer Council.
Jacaranda also raised $5,824 in donations for Loud Shirt Day, to support babies born deaf and help ensure they can access vital services to learn to listen and speak.
CEO Daniel Wessels said he was proud of Jemima’s efforts this month, and that charitable work was an important part of the company’s mission.
“Last year we raised over $5,000 for Daffodil Day, and this year Jemima has raised more than half of that alone, which is an outstanding effort,” Mr Wessels said.
“For the last several years now we’ve supported worthy organisations like the Cancer Council and Loud Shirt Day, as well as local sporting initiatives like the Gap Football Club. We also provide a $25,000 annual donation to the young innovators at the UQ ilab Accelerator Fund.
“We always encourage our employees to take part in charitable work. Just this year we introduced a new Charity Leave policy giving all employees an additional day of leave each year to help the community out in any way they see fit.”
