In fact, five Australian cities have made the top 30-list of most expensive cities to live in the world. Nevertheless, the cost of living does vary from suburb to suburb within a city. That why we’ve put together a list of the most expensive places to live in Australia’s most expensive cities, but we’ve contrasted them with the cheapest suburbs (but nicest) suburbs to live in Australia. Adelaide: this is understated city with amazing food and wine culture. It’s very artsy and has a laid-back lifestyle. It has a much lower cost of living than the other Australian cities. It’s also very close to the beach and the outback.

Hobart: is another capital city that should be underestimated for its liveability. Since Tasmania is so small, life here is different to other Australian cities. Tasmania offers stunning scenery and lifestyle here is very laid-back. Housing is also very affordable in Hobart.
