Can I get a loan on Centrelink?
If you’re on Centrelink and an unexpected cost has put a strain on your budget, Jacaranda may be able to help. We offer personal loans to Centrelink customers with our quick online application process that will get your cash fix in no time.
Loan options for Centrelink customers
If you receive Centrelink benefits and are looking to borrow money, there are a few options you can consider.
An advance payment from Centrelink allows you to receive a portion of your payment early. You’ll then be required to pay it back out of your later payments. You can apply for a Centrelink advance at any time if you receive one of these payments:
- Youth Allowance for students
- Family Tax Benefit
- Mobility Allowance
You can also apply for advance payment if you have been receiving benefits for at least three months:
- Age Pension
- Carer Payment
- Disability Support Pension
- Farm Household Allowance
- JobSeeker Payment
- Parenting Payment
- Widow Allowance
- Youth Allowance for job seekers
This is a great option for you because these loans incur no interest and you can repay the advance out of your future Centrelink payments. For more information, visit the Department of Human Services.
Another method of borrowing money is by getting a personal loan on Centrelink. Personal loans, which are sometimes referred to as cash loans, can be a faster option than an advance payment. So, if it is an extremely urgent expense, going through an online lender will be a great option for you. At Jacaranda, we offer fast cash loans for unemployed people from $300 to $10,000. We will try to get back to you within just 60 minutes of your application (if you apply within our business hours).
Loans for pensioners on Centrelink
Unsure whether you can apply for a personal loan while on a pension? Whether you are on an age pension or a disability pension, you can apply for a Centrelink loan with Jacaranda! We consider most Centrelink income as a regular income, so as long as you have been receiving these benefits for at least 90 days and meet the rest of our eligibility criteria, we may be able to help.
Bad credit loans for people on Centrelink
Are you worried that your bad credit score will stop you from getting a personal loan? We offer bad credit personal loans, even to people receiving Centrelink. We follow responsible lending obligations set by ASIC . We will never lend someone money who we believe will not be able to comfortably repay. We conduct credit checks on every loan applicant, but we will not let a bad credit score stop you from accessing a personal loan. We will look at things like your bank statements to see whether a personal loan is right for you. Your credit score will only play a small role in our assessment.
How much can I borrow?
We offer personal loans from $300 to $10,000. There are three options of personal loans: small loans, medium loans and large loans.
Small Personal Loans
Our Small loans are unsecured and range from $300 to $2,000. They can be repaid over a period of 12 months.
Medium Personal Loans
Our medium personal loans range from $2,100 to $4,600. Repayments will be arranged over a period of 13 to 24 months. Our medium-sized loans are secured loans which means collateral must be attached to your application. This could be in the form of a vehicle like a car, a boat or a motorbike.
Large Personal Loans
Large personal loans are also secured and range from $5,000 to $10,000 with repayment terms extending from 13 to 24 months.

Still have questions? Here are some answers to our most common questions.
How long do I have to be on Centrelink to get a loan?
We need to be able to see a consistent income into your account for at least 90 days to be approved for a personal loan with us. This is to ensure that you will definitely have the means to repay your loan.
What is a credit score?
A credit score is essentially a report card for your spending. It is used by credit providers as an indicator of your creditworthiness. If you have a poor credit score, this indicates that you may have defaulted or missed repayments on a loan or credit account.
Do you conduct credit checks?
By law, we must conduct credit checks on all of our applicants. We also look at your bank statements. This is to get an indication of your financial situation in order to ensure that you can repay your loan.
What can I use my loan for?
You can use a personal loan for just about anything. Here are some examples of the most common reasons people take out a personal loan with us:
– Car repairs
– Rental bond
– Buying furniture or white goods
– Medical expenses
– Travel costs
– Unexpected or emergency bills
– Debt consolidation
– Home renovations
