Make March Purple For Epilepsy

Jacaranda Finance is the proud official sponsor of Make March Purple for Epilepsy 2024.

Every 33 minutes, a life is turned upside down by epilepsy

Jacaranda Finance is proud to announce that we have signed on as the first official sponsor of Make March Purple, an annual Australia-wide campaign supported by epilepsy organisations from across the country.

Throughout March, we’ll be raising money and awareness to help pave the way to a better life for people with epilepsy and their support networks.

Jacaranda CEO Daniel Wessels welcomed this partnership as a meaningful way to extend Jacaranda’s vision for supporting all members of the community in the pursuit of a better future.

“Too often, people with epilepsy experience difficulties when it comes to education,
employment and social connection,” Mr Wessels said.

“While living with epilepsy can be challenging, it shouldn’t be a barrier to achievement.

“As proud sponsors of this year’s campaign, we’re committed to driving change and helping people live lives without limits.”

Make March Purple (MMP) is a month-long campaign raising awareness of epilepsy across Australia. Epilepsy organisations from around the country come together in support of the 250,000 Australians living with epilepsy, their partners, families and unpaid carers.

About Epilepsy

"Epilepsy is one of the most common and disabling chronic neurological conditions. It is characterised by recurrent seizures, which are caused by a temporary disruption of the electrical activity in the brain" - AIHW.

"The condition affects people of all ages and, although treatable, often requires lifelong medication. Approximately 30% of all cases will not respond to medication, necessitating surgery or vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) as part of the treatment" - Deloitte.

"Around the world, approximately 50 million people are living with the condition, many of whom continue to experience discrimination and human rights violations. As a result, the WHO has formulated an Intersectoral Global Action Plan to address the long-standing neglect of neurological disorders" - World Health Organisation.
